After an oil boom in the 90s, Venezuela became the reigning Queen of South America. Nitro-boosted by its oil production, the Spanish eagle spread its wings and soared into the stratosphere – exercising sheer power and dominance over all its Latin American counterparts. But that’s not all. Venezuela is known too for its beautiful people, especially its women – having produced seven Miss Universe Winners.
Unfortunately, Venezuela’s glory was short lived. The Chavista government, marred by accusations of dictatorship and human rights abuses, was dragged through the gutters – taking Venezuela with it. Crippled by US Sanctions and international isolation, the Venezuelan currency started to hyperinflate since as early as 2010. Today, one US dollar is worth more than 500,000 Venezuelan Bolivars. Venezuelans were forced to flee starvation to every neighboring country they could find.
But don’t lose hope. Many people are optimistic that Venezuela will rise again, and this time, higher than ever before. And that is why we’ve chosen to build this website – to help you follow Venezuela all the back to the top as it resumes its rightful place of world dominance and influence.
